EDWARD MINOFF

American  B. 1972

BIOGRAPHY

B. 1972, New York, NY; currently lives in Brooklyn, NY

A young tour de force on the Classical Realist scene, Edward Minoff is rapidly becoming a consummate painter to be reckoned with. Minoff earned his baccalaureate degree at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts and attended the Art Students League of New York, The National Academy School of Design and Vassar College; he also copied works at major museums in the United States and Europe. While co-helming the animation house, AMPaye, Minoff continued his academic art training with Jacob Collins at the Water Street Atelier. Realizing he needed to devote himself entirely to painting, he left AMPaye and, soon thereafter, completed his final chapter of formal studies at The Florence Academy of Art with Daniel Graves.

Minoff executes masterful works in a number of genres, including portraiture, still life, and landscape; however, he commands the seascape with his deftly crafted wave paintings. Having spent time on Fire Island, Long Island throughout his life, he has always observed the beach landscape. The waves are forever churning and undulating while the sun continually alters the color palette; these never-ending events have been meticulously transcribed in the artist’s series of notations, sketches, small studies, and topographical analyses. As Minoff is resolute in excluding photographic contrivances to “capture” the moment, all of his diligence and fortitude come to fruition through awe-inspiring and accurate monumental paintings.

Edward Minoff is currently represented at galleries in New York, San Francisco, Greenwich, Nantucket and Cape Cod, and his work has been exhibited throughout the country. The artist is also an adjunct professor at Columbia University, an instructor at the Grand Central Academy and co-founder of the Hudson River Fellowship. In 2014

Minoff and artist friend Tony Curanaj launched Suggested Donation, a lively and informative pod-cast devoted to the arts and the creative mind.
